For the past fifteen years, Jane Harris (pictured), has volunteered her services to the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation (HBCF) to co-ordinate the sewing of hundreds of HBCF Comfort Cushions each year.
The Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation Comfort Cushions provide relief after breast cancer surgery to patients throughout the Hunter and aid in their recovery.
Jane co-ordinates several groups of sewers across the Hunter who work tirelessly to produce the cushions. The cushions are then made available by the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation free of charge to patients in hospitals throughout the Hunter region after their breast cancer surgery.
Through its community fundraising, the Foundation covers the cost of the material, and distribution.
“Each and every week, we receive such positive feedback about the Comfort Cushions and how wonderful they are as an aid to recovery,” said HBCF President Lisa Bartley.
“We simply couldn’t have helped so many women and men affected by breast cancer without the support our many local volunteers, particularly Jane.”
Each HBCF Comfort Cushion pack contains a cushion, draining bag cover and information about the other services available through the Foundation.
