Virginia Rigby Education
Assistance Grant
This grant program is set up to assist families experiencing financial hardship due to their breast cancer diagnosis. These grants are designed to support primary & secondary school age students.
The Virginia Rigby Educational Assistance Grant was established to honour the legacy of Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation co-founder Virginia Rigby. Virginia was passionate about ensuring all Hunter breast cancer patients had equal opportunities and a network of support to help them through their treatment.
Flexible grant
The Virginia Rigby Program is intended to be flexible. There is no set figure to be funded and no excessively restrictive rules about how the money is to be spent – so long as it’s supporting the education of a school aged child whose parent has breast cancer.
Apply when needed
We want to ensure support is available when families need it. This is why there is no open or close dates for applications – simply apply when you need it.
Funding from fees to uniforms
Whether you need assistance with school fees, uniform costs, excursion payments, laptop or school supplies, HBCF is here to provide financial support to ensure a childs eduation does not suffer.
Eligibility
Grants are awarded to children who have a parent that is suffering financial hardship due to breast cancer treatment.
Grants may also be provided to support a school aged child who has had a parent pass away from Breast Cancer.
Application Process
To apply for a grant, you will need to complete an application form outlining your family circumstances, what you are requesting assistance for and the reasons for your request. You will also need to provide a letter of support from your oncologist.
