Dear HBCF Family,
As we bid farewell to another incredible year, I find myself
overwhelmed with gratitude for the unwavering support and dedication that has
fuelled the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation’s journey throughout 2023.
Together, we’ve achieved remarkable milestones, and I am thrilled to share some
of the key moments that have defined this memorable year.
1. Empowering Hearts, Changing Lives:
Our mission to support those facing breast cancer in the
Hunter region reached new heights. With the collective efforts of our dedicated
team, Program Partners, and the amazing Pink Army of Volunteers, we provided
over 1,600 services to nearly 200 clients. Each service represents a touchpoint
of care, solidarity, and empowerment for those navigating the challenges of a
breast cancer diagnosis.
2. Celebration in Full Bloom:
Our signature fundraising events became vibrant celebrations
of community spirit and generosity. From the Pink Charity Golf Day to the
heart-pounding excitement of Pink Race Day, the camaraderie at Knockers &
Moles, and the warmth of our Christmas Supporters Lunch, these events not only
raised crucial funds but also brought our community together in a tapestry of
shared purpose and compassion.
3. A Grateful Nod to Fundraisers:
The heartbeat of our organisation lies in the passion and
commitment of our Community Fundraisers. In 2023, we welcomed both familiar
faces and new advocates into our fold. Their dedication resulted in one of our
most successful fundraising years, a testament to the power of collective
action in making a tangible impact on the lives of those affected by breast
cancer.
4. Welcoming a New Team Member:
Our journey this year wouldn’t be complete without
acknowledging the newest addition to our team, Josh. As our Fundraising, Events
& Marketing Coordinator, Josh has seamlessly integrated into the HBCF
family, bringing fresh perspectives, boundless energy, and a genuine passion
for our cause. His presence has undeniably enriched our team dynamic, and we’re
excited about the creative endeavours that lie ahead.
5. A Year of Growth, Impact, and Strategic Evolution
The addition to our team has catalysed a pivotal shift in
our strategic direction, we’ve embarked on a path towards building a more
sustainable working environment. This year, our focus extended beyond our
impactful programs and events; we delved into refining internal processes,
streamlining operations, and implementing strategies for efficiency across the
organisation. As we head into the upcoming year, these efforts pave the way for
a stronger foundation. By optimising our internal workflows and bolstering our
capabilities, we aim to position ourselves for growth. Our goal remains
steadfast soon approaching the new financial year, to expand and enhance our
support programs, ensuring that we can extend our reach and impact even further
within the Hunter region. Together, we’re fostering an environment that not
only nurtures innovation but also propels us toward a future where our support
is more comprehensive and accessible to those in need.
In closing, I extend my deepest gratitude to every
supporter, funding partner, volunteer, fundraiser, supplier and team member who
contributed to our shared success. Together, we’ve woven a tapestry of
compassion, resilience, and hope that will continue to inspire and uplift in
the years to come.
As we embrace the holiday season and look ahead to a new
year filled with promise, let’s carry the spirit of unity and kindness that
defines the HBCF community.
Wishing you all a joyous festive season and a New Year
brimming with hope, love, and positive change.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Abbey McDonell
