Meet Emily Dwyer

administration officer & fundraising support

With almost 2 years of dedicated service to the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation (HBCF), Emily Dwyer, in her role as Administration Officer & Fundraising Support, brings a wealth of experience and a heartfelt commitment to the organization. Prior to her time with HBCF, Emily spent 12 years in the banking sector. However, a friend’s recommendation prompted her transition to the not-for-profit world, a move that has proven to be deeply fulfilling.

In her day-to-day responsibilities, Emily’s role is anything but monotonous. From processing and receipting donations to managing invoices, assisting volunteers, and supporting the team where needed, Emily plays a crucial part in ensuring HBCF provides the best possible services to Hunter families. Despite the routine administrative tasks, Emily finds joy in witnessing the generosity of donors and the selflessness that underscores the HBCF community.

Emily’s motivation to work with HBCF stems from the pride she feels in being part of an organization that offers support to families facing challenging times. Having been touched by cancer within her own family, Emily has a profound understanding of the struggles individuals and families endure, adding a personal dimension to her commitment.

The most rewarding aspect of Emily’s role is the knowledge that she is part of a caring team that genuinely makes a difference. The impact of HBCF’s services becomes palpable when speaking to clients and hearing firsthand how the foundation has helped them navigate the challenges of breast cancer treatment, whether through transportation, cleaning services, or lawn maintenance.

One of Emily’s favourite memories at HBCF involves a heartwarming encounter with a client at an event. Recognising the client’s name on a raffle ticket, Emily realized she had previously assisted her with HBCF services. The emotional exchange highlighted the profound impact HBCF had on the client’s life, reinforcing the importance of the foundation’s work.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending quality time with her three young children, aged 5, 3, and 2. Making memories with her family, whether at the beach or visiting relatives, brings balance to her life.

Emily’s advice to those considering involvement with a nonprofit like HBCF is straightforward – the rewarding feeling far outweighs any challenges. In a message to the HBCF community and supporters, Emily expresses gratitude, emphasizing that without the support of the local community, HBCF couldn’t fulfill its mission.
