Readers of The Newcastle Herald have helped raise a $5,000. Newcastle Newspapers General Manager, Julie Ainsworth, said that the pink themed paper published on October 22 was an important part of the Herald’s commitment promoting the valuable grass root work of the Foundation. The Herald has for a number of years themed the paper generously donating 10 cents from every edition.

Newcastle Rotary and the Mary Ellen used the ‘race that stops the nation’ to support local people. For the sixth year running the Foundation joined forces with Peterson House to hold the Bubbly Breakfast. More than 400 people met to raise awareness and more than $18,000. One of the major services of the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation is transporting patients to and from their treatments (it's part of our Supportive Care Program). In the first 6 months of 2012, our volunteer drivers travelled a massive 15,648km!

For a group of 82 Hunter business women, golf was the inconsequential part of the Chicks with Sticks Charity Golf Day. Raising money for the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation and Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service was the important ‘driver’. Forsythes Operations Manger, Michelle Faithfull, and her colleagues held the second annual charity event at Merewether Golf Course on Friday 18 May raising money and awareness of two great Hunter based community organisations.

On the weekend of 21-21 July 2012 the Maitland Polocrosse Club held their annual weekend carnival. They had approached the Foundation in November last year wanting to see if they could raise “a little money” for the Foundation over this weekend.

Hundreds of women and men of the Hunter affected by breast cancer will benefit from the support of local Registered Clubs. Clubs NSW and local Registered Clubs have joined forces to hold a charity race day on Saturday 7 July at Newcastle Jockey Club. The day is expected to raise more than $16,000 for the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation.
