Newcastle Private Hospital hosted its Annual Pink Day on Thursday, 16 October 2014 to raise money for the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation by selling cakes, jewellery and hats. The day was a huge success with over $3000 raised, while merchanise sales and raffles will continue to raise funds for the rest of the month.

The Newcastle Knights and partner Aurizon have announced the eight finalists for the 2014 Aurizon Volunteer of the Year Award for service to Junior Rugby League. Our (only) employee Paula Greentree has been selected as a finalist for this prestigious award, for the work she does with the Valentine Junior Rugby League Club.

Julie Morris, a Vietnamese Australian, has recently been treated for breast cancer at Newcastle's Mater Hospital. After her breast surgery, Julie saw a need for shoulder bags to carry the drainage drip, to assist with patient mobility whilst people are being treated. Julie was so grateful for the support and attention from everyone at the hospital, that she has donated 200 carry bags for patient use.

The Valentine Football Club Pink Day was held at Baxter Oval, Marks Point on Sunday, 20 July 2014. A huge thank you to Terry Campbell from Valentine who coordinated the entire day with two sides from Valentine playing, Valentine Under 18 v Under 15 Emerging Jets as well as the feature match Valentine WPL v Under 18 Emerging Jets. Both Valentine sides wore pink jumpers while the Emerging Jets teams wore pink socks to also show their support for the Foundation.

Hundreds of local women and men affected by breast cancer will benefit from the support of local Registered Clubs. Local Clubs joined forces with the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation this month to hold a charity Race Day at Newcastle Jockey Club raising just over $24,000.

Last Saturday saw the Hamilton Hawks Rugby Club’s Old Boys Day support the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation Boot Out Breast Cancer campaign. The Hawks Old Boys side, along with Premier 1,2 and 3 sides and the Premier Colts, all wore pink socks in support of the Foundation. Over $3,000 was donated, but just as importantly, was the raising of awareness of breast cancer and the services the Foundation can provide.

In conjunction with the Newcastle Airport we are pleased to launch the DONATE an HOUR appeal. The premise of this campaign is to encourage you to donate an hour of your wages to the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation. Due to the support of Newcastle Airport, every cent raised goes towards the helping the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation help people undergoing breast cancer treatment in the region. The money you donate will assist us to deliver our grassroots support.
