A massive thank you to Tanya Murphy and Jade Tolar who organised the Boobs on the Balcony fundraiser held on 17 October at The Gunyah Hotel which raised a staggering $20,602 for the Foundation.

Last night the Foundation was presented with a generous donation of $10,000 from the Tour de Cure after the first day of riding for their CAN4CANCER Tour. Over three days the team of 163 riders and support crew will ride 330 kms and donate a massive $280,000 to cancer research, support and prevention projects. The Foundation wishes the team the best of luck with the remaining two days of the tour.

Today the staff at Orica held a Pink Morning Tea to raise funds in support of the Foundation. Rosalie Taggart, Treasurer of the Foundation attended the event and spoke to the staff about the wonderful services our Foundation provides to the local community through the funds raised at community events, such as this. This event follows on from Orica's sponsorship of our Supportive Care Program.

The 9th Annual Bubbly Breakfast for Breast Cancer was held in the new Conference Centre of the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley on Sunday 25 October 2015. This year we hosted a record 520 people who danced and sang the morning away to the faboulous tunes sung by Newcastle's very own Smokin Horns, following a scrumptious breakfast and a few sips of bubbles.

On Sunday, 20 September 2015 over 200 women (and a few men!) gathered at Merewether Surfhouse for the second annual Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation High Tea by the Sea, to launch Breast Cancer Awareness month. October is internationally recognised as breast cancer awareness month and this is symbolised by the pink ribbon.

In 2015 the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation has introduced a new series of programs for SURVIVORSHIP. There are a number of emotional, physical, practical and social challenges that cancer survivors may face once they finish cancer treatment, including the late effects of cancer treatment and the fear of cancer returning.

The Board of the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation were thrilled to recently attend the ClubGRANTS Category 1 Funding Program presentation. Held on Monday, 10 August 2015, we were presented with a cheque for $25,000 - proceeds from the ClubsNSW PINK Race Day held in July. Northern NSW Football partnered with the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation in the girls football week during the Boot Out Breast Cancer fundraiser.  The Women’s Premier League raised funds at four locations, with a number of the teams wearing pink socks during the games.

Oh good heavens that means I have been involved for 27 years! It only feels like I have been doing it for three or four years, where has that time gone?
